FLOATING HOME

Located on the Multnomah Channel with views of the Sauvie Island Bridge, this project uses simple forms and materials to create a straightforward yet striking contemporary floating home.  The house presents a closed facade facing the public dock to maintain privacy, while the water side has large doors and windows providing a seamless indoor outdoor transition and exceptional views to the bridge and the water.  The simple gable roof has a shifted roof line to create a simple twist on a vernacular form, and provides a large south facing roof area for a future PV array.  The first floor is clad in cedar shingles with a natural finish, while the upper floor is clad is ebony stained cedar siding.
